Introductory blog post
Welcome to the inaugural Acclaro blog
When given the option to start a blog on my website I wondered if it made any sense – hasn’t everything already been said or written? But as I look through so much that is online about different eye conditions (cataracts, nearsightedness, glaucoma, etc…) and about eye procedures (cataract surgery, LASIK, etc…) I feel like I need to add a few words of common sense. Hopefully over the next few months/years I’m able to do it. Hearing common questions and concerns over the past 15 years has helped me figure out what is important to patients. Hopefully reading some of the future blog posts will decrease anxiety and increase awareness about new technologies and the latest techniques for treating a host of eye-related conditions.
A few background questions for me to answer:
What does ACCLARO mean?
One of the most common questions I get asked about the practice. The short answer is – from the Latin “to make clear” or “to reveal”.
Our mission statement
Acclaro is dedicated to improving the lives of our patients by providing remarkable and compassionate eye care.
How do we live out our mission?
For the last 7+ years we have been trying to live this out. We have a pleasant, comfortable office and a staff that is eagerly waiting to get you the appointment or information that you need. We utilize the latest technologies and techniques to improve or restore vision. There’s never been a better time to be a patient, even a reluctant one.
When I see patients, my goal is to make sure that I have time to listen to their concerns or symptoms. Only after listening and a careful exam, can I then make sure they understand what their condition is and what we can do to help.
Why a new kind of clinic?
Our goal was to provide a pleasantly surprising option to the standard doctor’s office. We strive to spend time with patients, finding out what drives them, and tailoring solutions that fit. We are not one-size fits all.
Our door is almost always open…
Soon, through a new software system, we will have the availability of on-line scheduling, messaging to the staff or me, and pre-registration materials. Our goal is to be accessible, not aloof or elusive. More of this information will be available in future blogs. Keep your eyes peeled for that!
